Homemade Flax Crackers

Step Up Your Cracker Game

Yeah. Hummus is delicious on anything. Like, it even makes celery worth eating. But, when you make homemade, tasty, not to mention nutritious crackers to dip into that creamy, chickpea-y goodness ... watch out. Actually. Just make twice as much as the recipe says. You're gonna need it.

Ingredients:

  • 1 container Everything Hummus
  • 1 cup cooked brown rice
  • 1 cup cooked quinoa
  • ¼ cup sesame seeds
  • ¼ cup flax seeds
  • ¼ cup chia seeds
  • 3 Tbsp water (add one at a time)
  • 2 tsp salt

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 350°F. In a food processor, combine cooked brown rice and quinoa until it reaches a mushy consistency. Add sesame, flax, and chia seeds with 1 Tbsp of water until you can form a ball.

On a well-oiled sheet of parchment paper, place about half of the dough on it. You want enough to cover the pan you're going to use. With a can or rolling pin, begin to roll out the dough to make it into a thin, flat sheet. Once it's rolled out flat, you can take the top of a spice container and make rounds to get a circular cracker. Alternatively, you can leave the dough in one big sheet and break it apart once it's done cooking. Repeat steps with the second half of dough.

Place sheet in the oven and let cook until dry and lightly browned. At the 15 minute mark, flip over the crackers and bake for another 10-12 minutes. Cooking time will vary, so check crackers every 5 minutes to make sure they're not getting burnt. Let cool and enjoy with Tribe Everything Hummus.
