DECADENT DARK CHOCOLATE HUMMUS HEALTHY* PANCAKES

Remember when pancakes were just…pancakes? You’d fix a stack, add a little butter, pour on a lot of syrup, and dig in. Then Tribe showed up with their dark chocolate hummus. And plain ol’ pancakes took a very dark (and tasty) turn for the better.

Better yet, these are healthy pancakes. The Tribe dark chocolate hummus just makes them taste decadent. In reality, there’s a whole lotta good in hummus. And it makes for some healthy pancakes. Not to mention incredibly delicious.

Ingredients:

  • 1 box mix of plain pancakes (or ingredients for a pre-existing recipe for plain pancakes)
  • 2 tbsp of Tribe Dark Chocolate Hummus
  • Maple syrup for topping
  • Fruit for topping
  • Butter
  • Sea salt

Tools:

  • Large non-stick skillet

Instructions:

  1. Step 1 - Make the batter
    Start by making your favorite plain pancake mix from a box or make a pre-existing recipe of your choice. For every one cup of pancake mix or flour in your recipe, add 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder and two heaping tablespoons of dark chocolate hummus. Stir together and add water 1 teaspoon at a time if the mix becomes too thick to pour.
  2. Step 2 - Cook the pancakes
    Heat some butter in a nonstick skillet and use a ½ cup measuring cup to spoon the mix into the pan. Cook until the pancake mix firms up and starts to bubble, then flip and cook on the other side. Repeat until all the batter is used up.
  3. Step 3 - Plate
    Sprinkle each pancake with a pinch of sea salt and create a stack. Add an extra dollop of chocolate hummus and any other toppings of your choice. Enjoy!
